Getting Started with Therapy at Therapy Central NY
What to Expect & How to Begin
Starting therapy can feel vulnerable especially when your relationship feels strained, disconnected, or in crisis.
You may be wondering:
- Will this actually help?
- What will sessions be like?
- Is this the right therapist for us?
My goal is to make the process simple, clear, and supportive from the very first step.
Whether you’re seeking couples therapy, marriage counseling, relationship counseling or affair recovery support, you’ll receive focused, personalized care designed to help you create meaningful, lasting change.
Step 1: Schedule Your Free Consultation
We begin with a complimentary consultation call.
This is a chance for us to:
- briefly discuss what’s bringing you in
- answer your questions
- talk about goals
- make sure we’re a good fit
Finding the right therapist matters. You deserve to feel comfortable and confident moving forward.
Step 2: Your First Session
Your initial session is an in-depth assessment.
Together, we’ll:
- clarify what’s happening in your relationship or life
- identify repeating patterns or cycles
- define clear goals
- create a focused plan for change
Many clients tell me they feel relief after the very first session simply from having structure and direction.
Step 3: Active, Results-Focused Therapy
My work is not passive or open-ended.
Using Relational Life Therapy (RLT) and trauma-informed care, sessions are active, practical, and skills-based.
You’ll learn how to:
- break destructive relationship cycles
- communicate more effectively
- repair after conflict
- rebuild trust and emotional safety
- move from resentment and distance to connection and teamwork
You won’t just talk about problems.
You’ll learn exactly how to change them.
Fees & Investment
Therapy is an investment in your relationship, your emotional health, and your future.
Private Pay Rates
- $200 per 50-minute Individual Session
- $200 per 50-minute Couples Session
- $350 per 90-minute Extended Couples/Individual Session
Payment is processed securely by credit card through TherapyNotes before each session.
Insurance & Out-of-Network
Therapy Central NY is a private pay practice and does not accept insurance.
Why?
Working outside insurance allows us to:
- protect your privacy and confidentiality
- avoid unnecessary diagnoses on your medical record
- focus on relationship work (often not covered by insurance)
- determine the length and frequency of therapy based on your needs — not insurance limits
- use the most effective approaches without restrictions
Many clients value the freedom, discretion, and personalized care that private pay provides.
If cost is a concern, I’m happy to provide referrals to other providers who may offer reduced-fee options.
Cancellation Policy
Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations.
Appointments cancelled within 24 hours are charged the full session fee.
Good Faith Estimate
If you are not using insurance, you have the right to receive a written “Good Faith Estimate” outlining the expected cost of services.
You may request this at any time.

You Don’t Have to Do This Alone
Taking the first step can feel intimidating.
But many couples and individuals tell me that reaching out was the hardest and most important step they took.
If you’re ready for support that is direct, compassionate, and effective, I’m here to help.
