Do you offer sliding scale or reduced payment?

We do not offer sliding scale or reduced fees for therapy. We believe that your health is your wealth and the foundation for your success in personal life and your career. Moreover, our philosophy is that the cost of therapy is an investment in your future and just like other forms of investment, counseling can yield a great return. We are happy to provide you a referral to another provider that can financially accommodate individuals that needs sliding scale or reduced fee services.

Do you accept insurance?

No, we do not accept insurance.

Why is Therapy Central NY an out-of-network provider?

Insurance companies operate on a medical model and require a diagnosis in order to pay for services. Not all clients meet the criteria for a particular diagnosis based on their presenting problem. In addition, most insurance companies do not cover couples or family therapy, relationship issues, attachment trauma, life transitions, existential issues, personal development and growth.

Each diagnosis becomes a part of your medical record, which may impact you in the future if you want to get life insurance, handle firearms, work in certain sectors or positions. We believe that clients do not have to carry an unnecessary diagnosis on their medical record.

Insurance companies may also request access to your records, read treatment plans and progress notes. They may influence how many sessions are covered and for how long.

At Therapy Central NY, we use the best therapeutic approach and healing methods that are most appropriate for you and to help you accomplish your goals. Therefore, you and your therapist are able to make the decision about the length of your care.

Above all, confidentiality and privacy are our priorities. We believe that you have right to confidentiality and mental health treatment based on your needs and priorities. If you prefer, you and your therapist may be the only people that will know you are in therapy. You get to decide who you disclose this information to. No one else will have access to your private records.

Therapy Central NY is a private practice that seeks to offer high quality, individualized attention to each client and is committed to each client’s confidentiality and privacy.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit http://www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.

Getting started with therapy is not difficult and I will make it as simple as possible.
